UNICEF Delegation Visits Thar Education Alliance’s Tourism Training in Nagarparkar

Thar Education Alliance was honored to host a distinguished UNICEF delegation at its Tourism Management Training site in Nagarparkar. The visit highlighted collaborative efforts to strengthen skills development and promote sustainable tourism opportunities in Tharparkar.

The delegation included Mr. Prem Chand, Chief Field Office; Mr. Sajjad Imran, Social Policy Specialist; Ms. Gulnaz, Education Officer; and Ms. Zahida, WASH and Climate Specialist. During the visit, the delegation engaged directly with trainees and explored the potential of tourism as an avenue for local skills development and economic opportunity.

During the UNICEF delegation visit to Thar Education Alliance, Bharat Kumar, Manager Programs, briefed the team on the Tourism Management Training curriculum, which is being implemented with the generous support of Bank Alfalah.

The delegation also interacted with 25 passionate trainees currently undergoing Level 02 Tourist Guide Training. Discussions focused on the importance of developing skilled local guides who can help visitors discover Nagarparkar and the wider Tharparkar region while highlighting its rich cultural heritage, history, landscapes, and local traditions.

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss how tourism skills can contribute to livelihood opportunities for young people while supporting responsible and sustainable tourism in the region.
