Gender Responsive Budgeting Training for Journalists Strengthens Education Reporting

Gender Responsive Budgeting Training for Journalists is helping media professionals strengthen their reporting on education and public spending.

Hamna Nasir, Journalist at Aaj News Karachi, shared her experience of attending the two-day training on Gender Responsive Budgeting in Education for journalists, organized by Thar Education Alliance (TEA) with support from the Malala Fund.

She described the training as highly beneficial for her work as an education beat reporter. The sessions provided valuable insights into accessing authentic data from Sindh Government sources and effectively using facts and figures to make stories more compelling, accurate, and impactful.

Hamna also gained a deeper understanding of Gender Responsive Budgeting, how it functions, and its role in addressing the educational needs of both girls and boys. She believes the knowledge and skills acquired during the training will help her produce more informed, evidence-based journalism on education issues and contribute to stronger public awareness and accountability.
