Members of the Children and Adolescents Parliament on the Right to Education had a unique learning and advocacy opportunity to experience parliamentary democracy firsthand through their visit to the Sindh Provincial Assembly.

The young parliamentarians observed the Assembly’s budget proceedings and gained first-hand insight into legislative processes, parliamentary debates, public budgeting, and democratic governance. They also visited the Provincial Assembly Program Control Room, where Senior Recording Manager Mr. Asim Siddiqui introduced them to the technical systems used for recording, broadcasting, and archiving Assembly proceedings.

During their engagement with the Opposition Leader, Ali Khurshidi, and Members of the Provincial Assembly, the children presented their observations and raised education challenges from their respective districts. They called for stronger efforts to reduce the number of out-of-school children, increased investment in education, and gender-responsive budgeting to address barriers faced by girls, including early marriage, inadequate school infrastructure, and limited access to secondary education.

The children also highlighted the need for improved teacher recruitment and continuous professional development, better school infrastructure, functional water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, inclusive education for children with disabilities, and equitable allocation and effective utilization of education budgets across districts.

The visit provided more than a learning experience—it created a space where children could engage directly with elected representatives and bring the realities of their communities into public policy discussions. Their participation demonstrated the importance of meaningful child participation in democratic governance and education policymaking.

Through this historic learning and advocacy experience, the Children’s Parliament members strengthened their understanding of legislative processes, public accountability, and responsible citizenship while confidently raising their voices for the Right to Education.
