On 14 August 2026, members of the Children and Adolescents Parliament on Right to Education participated in a special Independence Day session at the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, marking Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day. The session was chaired by Speaker Syed Owais Qadir Shah, with Governor Sindh Syed Nehal Hashmi, provincial lawmakers, government representatives
and other distinguished guests in attendance.

The proceedings included the national anthem, prayers for Pakistan’s peace and prosperity, the flag-hoisting ceremony and an Independence Day resolution. A key highlight was the participation of the young parliamentarians, who had the opportunity to speak on the Assembly floor and share their reflections on independence, education and the aspirations of Pakistan’s younger generation.

The session followed a mock parliamentary exercise held at the Sindh Assembly on 13 August, where the children were introduced to parliamentary procedures, Assembly decorum and public speaking. The experience helped them confidently participate in the actual session the followin day.

For the young parliamentarians, the occasion was more than an Independence Day celebration. It was an opportunity to experience democracy firsthand, engage with elected representatives and understand the importance of having a voice in decisions that shape their future. The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, bringing together the young participants and distinguished guests in celebration.
