Children’s Parliament Leadership Elected Through Democratic Process
The final day of the Three-Day Comprehensive Capacity Building Training on the Right to Education (RTE) marked a significant milestone as members of the Children and Adolescents’ Parliament put their learning into practice through a democratic electoral process. Facilitated by Ms. Azra Mahesar, District Election Commissioner Karachi South, and Ms. Farah Gul, Assistant Election Commissioner Malir, participants elected the Chief Minister and cabinet of the Sindh Children’s Parliament.
The day also featured an engaging session by Mr. Asif Abrar, Education Specialist, UNICEF Sindh, on the challenges children face in accessing quality education. The closing ceremony was graced by Dr. Fouzia Khan from the School Education & Literacy Department (SE&LD) and Mr. Bhavesh Kumar, Focal Person to the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly.
Following the announcement of results, Summaiya from Karachi West was elected Chief Minister, while Zainab Samoon from Badin was elected Leader of the Opposition. The newly elected parliamentarians took their oath of office, reaffirming their commitment to promoting child rights and the Right to Education, followed by the distribution of certificates to all 64 participants in recognition of successfully completing the three-day training.
Bringing together young representatives from all 30 districts of Sindh, the training equipped participants with the knowledge, leadership skills, and confidence to become active advocates for quality education and meaningful change in their communities.
