Girls Education Budget Consultation Sanghar brought together educators and stakeholders to discuss key challenges affecting girls’ education and school development.
A district-level pre-budget consultation on girls’ education was organized in Sanghar by Champions for Change and Thar Education Alliance with support from the Malala Fund.
Headmistresses and head teachers from girls’ schools, as well as boys’ schools with enrolled girls, participated in discussions focused on School Management Committees (SMCs), School Specific Budgets (SSB), and critical school-level issues.
Participants emphasized that the current education budget does not fully reflect ground realities, particularly regarding the need for washrooms, boundary walls, solar systems, transportation, and the shortage of female teachers in boys’ schools.
Female teachers also highlighted challenges related to vendor management, data collection, and administrative responsibilities due to limited lower staff support.
The consultation served as an important platform to amplify local voices and advocate for more inclusive and gender-responsive education budgeting in Sindh.
